The Sense Making

meaning is not something given or already constituted; it is inseparably bound to an individually experienced motivation to act. It emerges through a readiness to register the micro-epiphanies initiated by the phenomena of everyday life.

Punktem wyjścia jest imperatyw twórczy – wewnętrzna potrzeba kierowania uwagi ku światu, odbierania go, porządkowania, interpretowania i nadawania znaczeń.

Realizacja wykorzystuje betonowy blok, stalową płytę, magnesy i metalowe kulki, tworząc układ, w którym relacje pomiędzy elementami mogą być kształtowane i zmieniane.

“The Sense Making” is a project concerned with the active process of establishing meaning — both in the experience of reality and in the very act of making. The title refers to one of the ideas articulated in the Manifesto of the Incommensurability of Art, in which the making of sense is understood as a process that demands personal engagement, an impulse towards attentiveness, and a readiness to confront the “state of things.”

The project takes the creative imperative as its point of departure: an inner need to direct one’s attention towards the world, to receive it, order it, interpret it, and invest it with meaning. Here, meaning is not something given or already constituted; it is inseparably bound to an individually experienced motivation to act. It emerges through a readiness to register the micro-epiphanies initiated by the phenomena of everyday life.

Making, then, becomes less a matter of producing an object-as-artwork than a way of knowing and organising one’s own experience — an experience that, in turn, becomes a creative process.

From this perspective, the artist does not so much communicate a predetermined meaning to the viewer as create the conditions in which meaning can emerge. This is central to the artist’s broader practice, which focuses on processes of bringing forms into being and organising them, as well as on the threshold between the material, the psychological, and the perceptual.

The work employs a concrete block, a steel plate, magnets, and metal spheres, forming an arrangement in which the relationships between its elements can be shaped and continuously reconfigured. Matter thus becomes not merely a medium or material, but an active participant in the process of organising the image.
